Weaning and yearling EPDs on Black Angus bulls have continued to increase for more than 20 years. The average weaning and yearling weight EPD for current Angus sires is the highest it has ever been. The right Black Angus bull can be used to increase the weaning weight of calves in your commercial cow herd.

Increased muscling increases the percent retail product. There are two measures that can be used to evaluate the muscling of a Black Angus bull. These two measures are carcass EPD for rib-eye and ultra-sound EPD for rib-eye. Both of these measures are an indication of the genetic potential for increasing the muscling in calves sired by a Black Angus bull. Muscling is the red meat that is demanded by our consumer market.
The Black Angus breed has always had a reputation for having high marbling cattle. Some Angus bulls are superior to other Black Angus bulls in passing these high marbling traits on to their offspring. The carcass marbling EPD and the ultra-sound percent IMF EPD are the best method used to compare
genetic potential for marbling. If you are selling cattle based on carcass grade, increasing the marbling and increasing muscle can add value to the carcass.

Heifers sired by Black Angus bulls make good mama cows if you retain them in the herd, or they command a premium price at market if you choose to sell them. The "Black Market" is real and you can use it to your advantage by using Black Angus bulls in your herd.
We look forward to presenting our Black Angus bulls for your evaluation at our A*L*O*T sale, Saturday, November 30, 2002. All bulls will be assembled on Friday.
We invite you to come out on Saturday morning prior to the sale to inspect the bulls and talk with the consignors.
Stay for our complimentary lunch, which will be served from 11:00 a.m. 'til noon. Scott Crawford, from Platte City, Missouri, will be our auctioneer.
I Look Forward to Seeing You There!
