At the Spring Female Sale in May, President Bill Stone appointed a committee to search for new directors for the association. His guidelines were to retain as many of the current directors as are willing to continue serving, plus nominate enough additional names so that each member state would have two directors.[ Back to Index ]The nominating committee consisted of Everett Short, Dan Shelton, and Gerald Franklin. The incumbent directors from Arkansas, Louisiana, and Texas agreed to remain as directors. O.N. Riley from Oklahoma asked that he not be considered for further service.
The committee spent about ninety days talking with prospective candidates and made the following nominations to the general membership on October 14:
- Louisiana: Ron Springer, Keithville who joins incumbent H.P Roberts of Farmerville.
- Texas: Allen Steen, Greenville who joins Gary Smith of Itasca.
- Oklahoma: Martin VanMeter, Durant and Gerald Franklin, Duncan.
The committee did not fill the second slot for Arkansas, so if any of you know of someone who can join James Brown of Doddridge, please get in touch with James or Bill Stone and give them the name.
A complete list of current directors will be printed in a future newsletter.
